Education Is Not Keeping Pace With Future Needs

As for me, I’d put in the urge for procreation and the quest for power but let’s put those aside. The church may be your church. Individuals generally need to believe there is a greater force out there that could help the church in its various forms provides the platform for it.
The church isn’t a very innovative มรภ.สวนสุนันทา . That’s a given. Neither, I’m fearful are all schools. Schools are still teaching basically the exact things that they taught in the season 500. I agree with Frank on that. But shop around you. Examine the rate at which technology is changing our society. Are schools keeping up? Scarcely. Most learning remains done throughout textbooks. I grant you that they frequently have audiovisual support today but consider those text books. A university text can easily cost more than $100. I’ve taught courses at which the written text was 150! The regrettable issue is that a text book takes three to four years to be developed and printed; encourage materials inserted and then for schools to suit it into their curricula. By that time, guess what? It is often outdated! A lot of things have happened within the previous five years and also before the book hits the stands it takes revision.
Education needs to remove its rose-coloured glasses and look at what is going on in the world! Many of these in academia haven’t functioned; never been at the workplace and have little real comprehension of exactly what is occurring. Universities and professors within their characteristically outmoded bow-ties are still ramble around hallowed corridors and sculpted campuses unaware of the requirements of the true life. I understand! I am aware! It isn’t the fault – it’s the system. Bull droppings! Change begins with the average person and works its way upward to where something else can be carried out.
Back in Thailand, the government was on about education reform since I came some 2-4 years back. Are you aware what has happened? Nothing significant I can easily see. Lip-service mostly. Continual changes within the government have not helped the situation any. Back in the last couple of weeks, the Ministry of Education decided that schools won’t need to teach so much English (that the international language of industry and so the future companies of all Thai students) therefore they have told all schools to cut back to 3 lessons each week. Is that a progressive measure? You tell me!
I still remember when a then government here in the Kingdom decided that all schools must be automatic and so it put computers into every faculty. Laudable. . .except that 200 of the schools didn’t even have electricity, not to mention some knowledge of computers or personnel capable of hooking them up. Ah well. . .the thought was not there. Fore-sight, believing and planning move together.
Consider also that lots of kids nowadays spend up to 80 percent of their hours in front of either a television or a laptop monitor. In reality, lots of children are far more aware of what is really happening in the world than their parents are let alone their professors or teachers. Are we benefiting from how children learn and wish to know these days? Are you currently watching and listening? Not nearly enough.
Our faculty from Chonburi Province in Thailand climbed from one construction, 1-2 teachers and about 100 students in 1967 to nine buildings, 200 teachers and 4000 students. Classrooms are typically non air-conditioned. Some don’t really have somewhere to plug in a CD player. Oh, also you can find 40-46 students in every class. Yet it’s a solid lab and also two new computer labs. Progress!
This year the school opened its brand new construction because of their Gifted Programme (students with GPA of 3.2 or better) along with also their planned English Programme. Classrooms are state-of-the-art. Each classroom has a teacher control computer, microphone and LCD projector All classrooms have aircon and five Internet-ready computers at the back of the area for students. Students are used to being stimulated by TV and nearly all of them have computers in the home therefore visual courses have significantly more impact. Learning happens faster and is retained more. Novels have their place however interactive, hands-on courses are somewhat more motivating and interesting compared to a printed page. A science lab and library are also in the works. This is just a faculty that is focusing to reality from a scientific perspective. It generally seems to be in the minority.
All that is fine and dandy but the actual question would be: Are schools teaching students the skills for the tasks they’ll soon be planning to in 5 -15 decades or so are they still teaching from the year 500? Why do we teach advanced t? Studies reveal that a lot of girls by age 15 despise it and avoid it like the plague. Most boys might as well when they can.
Cheating happens to be a no no in schools. Back in Thailand, in a course of 4-5, perhaps 3 students can do their assignments and the rest will copy off those three. It is easy to spot precisely the same errors occurring in different notebooks. However, I sometimes take a contrarian view and wonder why we shouldn’t be thinking of it as collaborative learning. Can we should find out all of the answers or is it a way to know where to get the solutions we want? Isn’t that why organizations hire specialists and why teamwork is flaunted since the way to go? Surely advanced t is something that computers can do better and also a whole lot faster compared to the normal student brain? 95% of students will never use complex mathematics in their own careers yet we still drill everybody senseless in algebra, trigonometry and calculus. Well, that’s what they taught from the year 500 no body has told me in a big change in the curriculum. Uhhuh! Wouldn’t it be much better to show students how to approach a issue and how to teach your computer to work up the solution? I am aware of . .who is going to confirm the computer’s job? The other man working on the exact same problem through a different computer.
